How it works

Next Level Social Skills carefully selects cooperative video games to be used for teaching specific social skills. These games form the basis for teaching social skills in a real-life context, with clear instruction designed to help students achieve success. Children learn the meaning of the social skill, what they look like, why they are important and when they should use the skills. All of this is completed through a three-stage process to effectively guide the students.

Stage A:

Skill instruction

Instruction focusing on the targeted skills using explicit teaching and video modelling.

Stage B:

Cooperative play

Students playing the game, with teaching staff identifying and supporting the performance of the targeted skills.

Stage C:

Group reflection

Guided reflection on the performance of the targeted skills by students during the cooperative play.
